Carmalita has been coming to our hospital for many years with her
pets. She is now experiencing SAC from the other side. Carmalita
is excited about learning about the veterinary field from the
inside out. She has taken on the task of learning to be an animal
assistant and has been progressing with flying colors. We are
so happy to have Carmalita on our medical team, and encourage
her to continue with her new career, she seems to be a natural!
On her off time from the hospital, Carmalita is an organic farmer!
She shares her home with her husband, a professional Chef, and
many four-legged friends.
Carmelita is temporarily on maternity leave and we can't wait
to meet that little bundle she has been carrying around. Stay tuned
on the birth announcement!
I am a new employee at Stone Cliff Animal Hospital and I am
loving it! I have spent my working career at Tufts Veterinary School,
Grafton, MA as a multi specialize technician heading up the Nutritional
Support Team and operating the Transfusion Medicine Department.
Let’s not forget technicians always do patient care and owner
education. After 14 years at Tufts I was hired at Biopure Cooperation
as a Technical Services Representative for an oxygen caring solution
called Oxy Globin. Two years later I was offered a position at
Becker College Leister, MA as a lecturer and instructor. Young
minds are great….We must never stop learning. I loved teaching.
Then I found Vermont!
My husband, 3 dogs 2 horses, 2 cats and a parrot have moved to
Topsham, Vt. I love it here. I plan on staying. Can’t wait
to meet every one, this is an adoring state! I will always push
myself and my associates to never stop learning, always open a
book and read. I love medicine and love animals, and love learning,
the brain is never full. Thanks for reading, I hope to meet you
one day.
Karen has recently joined our team as a veterinary
technician. She graduated from Vermont Technical College many
years ago with an Associates in Applied Science of Veterinary
Technology. Karen has worked in many areas of the veterinary
field, and her experience will be a great asset to SAC. Karen
grew up in the Upper Valley area and she and her 3 daughters
still call it home. Karen loves all areas of veterinary medicine
but truly enjoys educating clients. In her spare time she can
be found “hanging out” with
her children and her various pets.
Brenda is a native of NJ and is currently relocating her horse
farm to New Hampshire, where she intends to continue her work
training horses. Brenda went to school at Georgian Court University
in NJ - where she received a BS in Biology and a paralegal
degree. She worked in law and environmental, wildlife and animal
sciences for the past 17 years. Brenda also has been training
and conditioning horses. Her passion is working with animals,
especially raising and training horses. She also specializes
in foal imprinting and working with brood mares.
Brenda lives in New London, NH with her dog, Tory, and cats,
Katie and Blueberry and Mama, a mini-bantam chicken and my 2
horses, Laredo, a Standardbred ex-racehorse, and Finale, an Arabian
stallion, training for distance races, hunter paces and foxhunting.
She enjoys spending time in NH and Vermont with her parents and
her boyfriend, Ed.
Kate is originally from Western
Mass. and was educated at UMASS Amherst. She graduated in 2004
with BS in animal science. Kate moved back to Western Mass.
and received her technical experience working for a local veterinarian.
She has worked in the veterinary field both in general as well
as emergency medicine. Kate recently moved to W. Lebanon in
July of 2007 and began working for SAC. We are very excited
to have Kate join our medical staff and bring a wealth of knowledge
and technical skills. She lives with her boyfriend and two
cats Niles and Gizmo.
Amanda has recently joined the SAC medical staff, and is fully
enjoying the on the job training. For the past year she has
been working with people and their pets learning to be a animal
assistant. Her favorite part of working with animals is feeling
like she has helped them in some way. Amanda has lived in the
Upper Valley all her life, with hopes of someday moving south!
During the summer months she can be found heading to Hampton
Beach for some sun and relaxation. Currently she is living
in Hartland, VT with her Golden Retriever "Nina" and
her cat "kitty."
Many of you already know Sam because like the rest of the Kelly
family they have been performing various chores at the hospital
for many years. For those who don't know Sam, he is the one that
you might have seen walking around in his father's coveralls looking
like Dr. Kelly found the fountain of youth. Sam is the spiting
image of his father. Sam takes care of alot of the messy jobs and
we love him for it! When Sam isn't working at the hospital, he
loves playing football on Dr. Kelly's team the Bradford Bulldogs,
hunting, and playing baseball. Thanks Sam!
Martha
Cunningham has been teaching obedience and agility classes in the
Upper Valley for many years. Martha is the "Miss Manners" of the
dog world, and her classes are taught with patience and kindness
always. There are always a variety of classes going on right here
at SAC, from puppy kindergarden up through all levels of obedience
as well as agility and scent training. Classes are held in our spacious
warehouse area, with lots of room for Martha's agility equipment.
The floors are covered in rubber for both the handler as well as
the students comfort. Martha is also a certified AKC Canine Good
Citizen Evaluator, and SAC just participated in its' first AKC Good
Citizens Program. (see The Bark Around Town) Thank you Martha for
guiding us all in the right direction!
